WINE TASTING ACCELERATOR COURSE DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES

The purpose of this course is to bolster the tasting skills of those currently working in the wine or restaurant industry, aspiring to be in the wine, and everyday wine lovers that wish to increase their tasting skills.

This course is entirely online and remote. You take it at your own pace.

If you are currently working towards a certification in wine or any other accreditation and need to improve your wine and blind tasting skills but do not have immediate access to a tasting group, this course is for you.

The course consists of nine modules and 30+ video tastings of the most essential white and red wines globally.

The Wine Tasting Accelerator program contains nine practical modules that are designed to be an entree into tasting wine like an expert, including video classes and online quizzes, guided tastings of 22 different grape varieties, a practical resource guide, live coaching calls, and a private Facebook Group that provides access to additional support and coaching from Fred Dex, and other program participants.

We start section one with the fundamentals of taking a deep dive into “THE BIG 5” where we dig into the various climates, grape varieties, farming methods, and winemaking techniques, and votaries that affect every bottle of wine in the world. Here is where you start your journey to tasting mastery! 

A peek behind the curtain of what goes into the cost of a bottle of wine. What’s the difference between a $10, $25, and $100 bottle, and why?

Being able read wine lables is crucial to being a good wine buyer. There are labels that are very straight forward and those that have all sorts of compicated language and wording. We break this down so you understand what it all means.

This week teaches you to expertly navigate wine through every detail that presents itself In a glass of wine from visual, aromatic, and structural cues. 

Some wine tasters don’t give color the time of day. To me, color is a crucial element in understanding some basic flavor and textural expectations. As they say you eat with your eyes! 

This module is a deep dive into the hundreds of different wine aromas and flavors exist in each glass. From primary fruits to secondary aromas this module will expand your vocabulary and start the tasting machine in motion. 

Texture and structure are one of my favorite parts of tasting wine. This module breaks down the various textures in wine, why they occur, and how to feel them and describe them with ease. 

A basic look in how to approach tasting white wines. This module puts into to everything we have learned in the first seven modules in the context of white wines. There are individual white grape modules that deep dive into each of the selected grapes.

The Whites: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Grigio/Gris, Chenin Blanc, Albariño, Grüner Veltliner, Gewürztraminer, and Viognier
